The World Heritage Run Zollverein takes place on the grounds of RAG Montan Immobilien at the Zollverein coking plant. The running routes primarily lead along the ring promenade and past the double-bock headframe, the SANAA building, over the Zollverein spoil heap, and the former shaft complex 1/2/8. The 5 km and 10 km courses are officially measured by the DLV and thus eligible for ranking. Over 1,200 runners enthusiastically participate in the various running competitions.
