The Tunnelweg Teufelskanzel Trail Marathon starts from the parking lot of DEULA in Witzenhausen and takes participants past the outdoor swimming pool and the Jewish cemetery onto the Werradamm. After crossing the federal highway, the runners enter a trail that goes through a 150-meter-long tunnel beneath the Kassel - Eichenberg railway line, where flashlights are required. The path continues through the Witzenhausen Sand Forest to the Teufelskanzel, from where a magnificent view of the surrounding area can be enjoyed.
Highlights
- After crossing the federal highway, civilization suddenly comes to an end. Like on the way to Mordor, the athletic entourage sneaks through the dark tunnel system.
- The tunnel has a height of about 1.60 meters; so duck your head and carefully navigate through the 150-meter-long tunnel with headlamps.
- The route features many elevation changes and leads through the Witzenhausen Sand Forest to the Teufelskanzel with a beautiful view of the Werraschleifen.
