A loud cannon blast as the starting signal – authentically ignited by the fireworks club – is the hallmark of the New Year's Eve run at the Thülsfelder Reservoir. While elsewhere thoughts revolve around Berliners, raclette, and lead pouring, the running shoes are laced up one last time this year at the reservoir. Since 1975, this traditional event has been a popular meeting point for runners who participate not only for the official ranking but also for the great atmosphere. The obligatory pea soup is a must at the subsequent gathering before participants prepare for the New Year’s celebration.
