Race description
The traditional Sparkasse Gießen New Year's Eve Run takes place on December 31, 2026, in Gießen-East and offers runners a varied race event with four courses: children's run, 5 km, 10 km, and half marathon. The event is fully booked with 1,800 starting places and is characterized by a family-friendly atmosphere and high-quality organization. Start and finish are located at Karl-Reuter-Weg, and all finishers receive a medal sponsored by Autohaus Erben. In addition to the races, there are classifications and awards for walkers and Nordic walkers, as well as a team competition with attractive prizes.

Additional information
Race bib pickup before Christmas at the Sparkasse Gießen premises and on the day before the race at Sporthalle-Ost. Changing and shower facilities available at Sporthalle Ost. Every finisher receives a medal; for the first time, there will be fruit provision at the finish area. Start times are staggered to ease the course. The participant limit is 2,200, medals are awarded to the first 2,000 finishers. Finisher shirts can be ordered additionally. Parking is available at Philosophikum I and the Studentenwerk in Otto-Behaghel-Straße. Courses are available as GPX files and can be used with navigation apps. Registration is online until December 27, 2025. Bib pickup is on December 27, 2025. Medals for the first 2,000 finishers. Entry fee includes a deposit. Shower and changing facilities are available at Sporthalle Ost.
