In the Schafberg Run, mountain runners take on the challenge of "Man against Steam Locomotive." The race against the Schafberg Railway features gradients of up to 26% and a height difference of 1,240 meters, making it one of the toughest mountain races in Austria. This demanding mountain run to the Schafberg Hüsli mountain restaurant is among the largest and most popular mountain races in the country and will take place on May 17, 2025, over a distance of 7.2 km with an elevation gain of 1,188 meters. The course offers a diverse landscape, from lush green alpine meadows to steep paths, rewarding participants with a magnificent view of the Alpine panorama and the Salzkammergut lakes.
