The Oberelbe Marathon has been taking place annually in April for almost a quarter of a century and runs continuously along the Elbe Cycle Path from Königstein to Dresden. The route is almost car-free and leads the runners to the Heinz Steyer Stadium. About 600 participants register for the full distance of 42.2 kilometers. Accompanying persons have the option to follow the runners on a historic paddle steamer.
