The 44th New Year's Run in Salzwedel will take place on January 4, 2026, to kick off the sports year 2026. The meeting point, start, and finish are in front of the Comenius All-Day School in Salzwedel. The event includes various distances: a Bambini run of 550 meters, a 1,500 meter run, as well as 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter races, including 5,000 meter Nordic walking/walking. New this year is a school competition, where the three schools with the highest participation can win cash prizes for sports equipment.
