The 44th "Weller" New Year's Run will take place on January 4, 2026, in Salzwedel to kick off the sports year 2026. Meeting point, start, and finish are in front of the Comenius All-Day School Salzwedel. The event offers various distances: a children's run over 550 meters, a 1,500-meter run, as well as joint starts for 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and 5,000 meters of Nordic walking/walking. New this year is a school competition, where the three primary schools with the highest participation can win prize money for sports equipment.
