The Lychener Lakes Run took place for the first time 42 years ago in Lychen and was originally planned as a swimming event, but was transformed into a running event for organizational reasons. The route runs along the shores of Lake Zens and Lake Platkow, offering a challenging section that remains memorable for many runners. The Lychener Lakes Run is considered an ideal preparatory run for the Rennsteig Run, as the cross-country character on the hiking trails along the lakes is reminiscent of this race.

Highlights

  • The 15km running course goes around the Platkow Lake and the Zens Lake.
  • Half of the course runs through the forests on the bike path, while the other half is on a hiking trail along the lakes.
  • The running segment at the Küstrinchener Bach is still remembered by many runners today.
