The Küstenkanallauf is a circular course of 5.5 kilometers in length, held every year at the beginning of July in Friesoythe, Lower Saxony. Organized by the local club KC Ikenbrügge, the event regularly attracts around 120 runners, who can choose distances of 22, 11, and 5.5 kilometers. In addition to the running events, there are also hiking and walking events as well as cycling races over 20 kilometers. The starting signal is given in the early evening to make the high temperatures in July more bearable, while numerous trees along the route provide shade.
