The Klippenlauf Ibbenbüren is a challenging trail run that primarily takes place on the forest paths of the Teutoburg Forest, near the recreational area "Dörenther Klippen." The course includes distances of 24.7 km and 12.4 km, with the main race covering 24.7 km featuring 9 steep ascents with a total elevation gain of approximately 500 m. The first and last approximately 1.5 km are on paved roads, while the majority of the course runs along forest paths, predominantly on the Hermannsweg and the Ibbenbüren circular hiking trail.
Highlights
- The root cliff should not be underestimated. The ground conditions are extremely challenging; you are practically running only on washed-out tree roots.
- In the main race over 24.7 km, there are 9 steep climbs with a total elevation gain of approximately 500 m, while the 12.4 km race features 4 climbs with an elevation gain of 240 m.
- The event is very popular and was fully booked in a short time last year, which is also to be expected for 2026.
