Every year on the last Sunday in April, more than a thousand hikers and runners participate in the "Hermannslauf": It covers a distance of 31.1 kilometers from the eponymous Hermann Monument near Detmold to Sparrenburg in Bielefeld. The route is famous for its challenges, including multiple ascents and descents, varying terrain, and a variety of stair steps. The atmosphere becomes particularly lively as participants approach Bielefeld, where they are cheered on by numerous spectators. Six hours after the starting gun, the participants happily cross the finish line and look forward to taking part again next year.
