Join us on the trails of the most iconic and largest cross-country race in Europe! In the picturesque Thuringian Forest, around 15,000 running enthusiasts gather every year in mid-May for the GutsMuths Rennsteiglauf, one of the oldest and most traditional running events in Germany. The well-prepared running routes follow the most famous long-distance hiking trail in Germany, the Rennsteig, through forest-green mountains and valleys of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy the special runner's refreshment with Köstritzer Schwarzbier and oatmeal porridge, as well as the "most beautiful finish in the world" in Schmiedefeld.
