The Cuxhaven City Savings Bank Marathon is an annual road running event that has been held in May since 2007, guiding participants along the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wadden Sea. The start takes place directly at the Kugelbake Hall, which also houses the competition office and a sports and health fair. The course offers breathtaking views of the North Sea and passes by numerous landmarks such as Grimmershörnbucht and Duhner Spitze. In addition to the marathon distance, there are also a half marathon, a 10km race, a children's race, as well as beginner and walking routes available.
