The Celler Lauf, officially known as the Celler Wasa-Lauf, has been held annually since 1983 on the second Sunday in March in the town center of Celle. It has nothing to do with the Swedish cross-country skiing event Vasaloppet, but derives its name from the main sponsor, Barilla Wasa Deutschland GmbH. The Celler Wasa-Lauf is one of the largest fun runs in Germany and includes various distances, including a children's race of 2.5 km as well as races over 5, 10, 15, and 20 km. In 2012, around 9,300 participants took part, and there were approximately 25,000 spectators on site.
