On September 27, 2025, the 8th Bernburg Half Marathon will take place, starting at the edge of the Saale River at the Tiergarten in Bernburg. The route leads through the Bernburg valley town to the Market Bridge, crosses the Saale, and heads towards Gröna to cross the Saale a second time. It continues along the Saale to the turnaround point below the castle in Plötzkau, before the runners make their way downstream back to Bernburg. The event offers varied distances of 21.1 km, 12 km, and 5 km and is part of the Solvay Cup in the Salzlandkreis as well as the State Cup of the Athletics Association of Saxony-Anhalt.
