5. Urwaldsteig-Ultratrail

The Urwaldsteig Ultratrail is a challenging ultramarathon of approximately 66 km with around 2000 meters of elevation gain around Lake Edersee. The course runs counterclockwise from Waldeck through diverse natural landscapes, including dense forests, narrow paths, the Kahle Haardt nature reserve, and the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. Participants can expect impressive views of the lake, historic sites such as Hünselburg, and varied trail sections with high natural and experiential value. The start and finish are at the Schloss Waldeck parking lot, with the race beginning at 8 a.m.

Refreshment station around km 32.2 after the bridge near Herzhausen. Day parking fee at the start location Schloss Waldeck is at least €5, please have the correct change or digital payment options available. The race follows the original Urwaldsteig marked course; GPX track is only for rough orientation. Approximately 66 km, around 2000 meters of elevation, trail character, refreshment at km 32.2, no showers or toilets, GPS recommended, limited participants (30), start at 8 a.m. at Schloss Waldeck parking lot.
